This is the first time the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia joins hands with the Cham community in Klang to organize the Hari Raya Festival.

On this occasion, Vietnamese Cham people gathered together to cook traditional Cham dishes such as savory cakes, spring rolls, and the snakehead fish vermicelli specialty of the western region of Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Counselor Nguyen Hong Son expressed his excitement to see the Cham people well integrated with the host country, living in harmony and sharing with each other.

He also affirmed that the Embassy always accompanies the Cham people and provides the best possible support for them to have a stable and developed life.

The Counselor emphasized that the Embassy was very pleased and grateful to see that in recent festivals held at the Embassy, such as the Death Anniversary of the Hung Kings, and Homeland Spring 2022, the Cham community nominated Representatives to attend in traditional costumes.

Ms. Ay Shah, a Cham person and an officer, said that this is the first time she has attended such a Hari Raya Festival since she lived in Kuala Lumpur for six years. She could not hide her emotion when she knew that the Embassy had accompanied the Cham community to organize the festival.

Like the Lunar New Year Festival, Hari Raya is an opportunity for Cham people to reunite, spend time with their families and send each other happy and joyful wishes.

There are about 2,000 Cham people living in Malaysia, divided into two groups. The first group immigrated to Malaysia before 1980 and the remaining group immigrated about 10 years ago./.
