Homeland Spring Festival 2023 to be organized in Japan’s Fukuoka

A press conference to announce the "Homeland Spring 2023 - Vietnamese Lunar New Year Festival" was organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Japan’s Fukuoka and the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka (AVF) on December 3.

This is one of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary (September 21, 1973 – September 21, 2023) of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relations, an important milestone in the history of attachment, solidarity and development of the two peoples, opening a new chapter of further development towards the future.

Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Vu Chi Mai, Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, informed that the festival will take place on January 7 and 8, 2023 at Maizuru Park in the center of Fukuoka City for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan in general, in Fukuoka and neighboring provinces in particular. This is the 4th time this festival is held on a large scale, with the largest number of participants among the Vietnamese community events in Japan.

She emphasized that the festival is an annual event attracting the special attention of a large number of overseas Vietnamese and people in the Kuyshu - Okinawa area, demonstrating the Party and State's interest in overseas Vietnamese in general and Japan in particular, and is one of the important highlights in the series of events opening the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

Ms. Mai also called for the unanimity and joint contribution, both materially and spiritually, of Vietnamese agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals, as well as Japanese friends and partners, to create an event which not only has sacred significance for the Vietnamese community far from the country, but is also an important cultural and economic exchange event between Vietnam and Japan in 2023.

The festival will include three main activities: Forum "Connecting trade and investment between domestic enterprises and overseas Vietnamese enterprises and Japanese enterprises"; final round of the contest "Kyushu Got Talent 2023"; and the final round of "Miss Vietnam - Japan Friendship 2023" with a nationwide scale in Japan and the largest ever event.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, Japan, introduced details of the festival program "Spring Homeland 2023". Accordingly, the festival will recreate the atmosphere of Vietnamese Lunar New Year Festival such as the God of Kitchen festival, Chung cake making contest, Tet flower market, lucky money, and folk games of Vietnam.

In addition, the festival also has the presence of famous singers and artists of Vietnam; 80 stalls displaying cuisines, quality products and handicrafts of Vietnam and Japan./.
