Japanese organizations and individuals praised for supporting Vietnamese community amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan presented certificates of merit to 17 Japanese organisations and individuals to recognize their support for the Vietnamese community in Japan to overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Lam Thi Thanh Phuong, Envoy of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, conveyed her sincere thanks for the valuable support, both material and spiritual, of Japanese benefactors to the Vietnamese community in the country.

According to the Envoy, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant difficulties for nearly 500,000 Vietnamese people in Japan, many of them having lost their jobs.

In this context, Japanese individuals and organizations have provided prompt support to Vietnamese workers and students, helping them overcome many difficulties.

Head of the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Association in Ibaraki Prefecture Minori Murata said that the Vietnamese are one of the biggest foreign-born communities in the prefecture.

The association has provided aid for pandemic-hit Vietnamese workers and students in Ibaraki since the outbreak of COVID-19./.
