Nearly 270 Vietnamese citizens from Australia, New Zealand brought home safely

Nearly 270 Vietnamese citizens were safely bought home from Australia and New Zealand on a repatriation flight on September 23.

The flight was arranged by domestic authorities, Vietnamese representative agencies in Australia and New Zealand, related agencies of the two host countries and Bamboo Airways.

The passengers included children under 18 years old, pregnant women, the elderly, workers expired their labour contracts, students with no residences due to closure of dormitory and other with especially difficult circumstances.

Due to travel restrictions in Australia and New Zealand in response to COVID-19, Vietnamese representative agencies in the two countries have worked with local authorities to facilitate travel of overseas Vietnamese to pickup points at airports in Sydney and Melbourne (Australia).

Vietnamese diplomats were also sent to airports to assist the citizens to handle procedures before boarding.

Bamboo Airways strictly carried out security and disease preventive measures during the flight to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Upon landing at Can Tho International Airport, all passengers and crew members were given heath checkups and put into quarantine sites according to regulations.

Such repatriation flights will be arranged in the coming time to bring home more overseas Vietnamese citizens basing on their demand, pandemic developments and the domestic quarantine capacity./.
