Over 240 Vietnamese citizens in Malaysia were repatriated safely on a Vietjet Air flight on December 9.

The flight was conducted by domestic authorities of Vietnam, Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, Vietjet Air and relevant Malaysian authorities.

Passengers included the elderly, children under 18, pregnant women, workers with expired labour contracts and those in extremely difficult circumstances.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia sent its staff to the airport to assist the passengers with boarding procedures before their departure.

During the flight, safety and preventive measures against COVID-19 were strictly carried out to protect the passengers’ health and prevent the spread of the disease.

All passengers and crew members received medical checkups and were sent to quarantine in line with regulations immediately after their arrival at Van Don international airport in Quang Ninh province.

More repatriation flights will be arranged in the coming time to bring home Vietnamese citizens in disadvantaged circumstances abroad in line with citizens’ wishes, the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, and quarantine capacity at home./.
