Over 280 Vietnamese citizens return home from Australia

More than 280 Vietnamese citizens were brought home safely from Australia on a flight of Bamboo Airway on November 25.

The flight was conducted by Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, Bamboo Airway and relevant Australian agencies.

The passengers on the flight included children under 18, the elderly, workers with expired contracts, and others in extremely disadvantaged circumstances.

The Vietnamese citizens were supported by Vietnamese Embassy and Australian competent agencies to travel to airports in Sydney and Melbourne. Embassy staff also assisted them with boarding procedures.

During the flight, safety and preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic were applied strictly to protect the passengers’ health and prevent the spread of the disease.

All passengers and crew members received medical check-ups and were sent to quarantine in line with regulations right after landing at the Can Tho international airport.

Under the direction of the Prime Minister, more repatriation flight will be arranged to bring home Vietnamese citizens in disadvantaged circumstances abroad in line with their wishes, the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, and quarantine capacity at home./.
