The repatriation flight was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, representative agencies of Vietnam in the US and Japan, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and relevant authorizes of the two countries.

The passengers included children under 18 years old, the elderly, the sick, pregnant women, workers whose contracts have expired, students without accommodation due to dormitory closure and those in difficult circumstances.

Vietnamese representative offices in the US and Japan took efforts to support Vietnamese citizens to go to airports in San Francisco and Narita, and sent staffs to help them with pre-departure procedures.

During the flight, Vietnam Airlines implemented strict security, safety and hygiene measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Upon landing at Van Don Airport in northeastern province of Quang Ninh, all the crew members and passengers were given medical check-ups and put under quarantine in line with regulations.

In the coming time, Vietnamese authorities will arrange more repatriation flights to bring Vietnamese citizens home, depending on their demand and domestic quarantine capacity./.
