The tournament attracted 21 teams representing various ethnic minority communities in the European country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, First Vice President of the Czech Republic’s Senate Jiri Ruzicka said the senate sponsored the annual tournament to strengthen exchange and connection among ethnic minority groups in Czech.

Vietnamese Ambassador Thai Xuan Dung said the tournament can be organized because the Czech Republic has controlled the COVID-19 pandemic successfully. He highly appreciated the meaning of the tournament and expected all football teams will compete in the spirit of friendship and fair play to make it a successful event.

The Vietnamese community has been participating in the annual event in an attempt to integrate deeper into the local society, enhance friendship among the ethnic minorities in the Czech Republic and contribute to nurturing relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, he said.

According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, FC Sapa Praha has been considered one of the strongest teams in the tournament as it won third place in 2018 and 2020 and won the title in 2019./.
