Overseas Vietnamese in Laos celebrate President Ho Chi Minh’s 133rd birthday

A ceremony was organized on May 18 to offer incense to President Ho Chi Minh at his memorial site in Xiengvang village, Nongbok district, Khammoune province in Central Laos, to celebrate the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023).

Speaking at the ceremony, Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Phan Minh Chien reviewed President Ho Chi Minh's 30-year journey to find a way to save the country, emphasizing that in the early years when the Communist Party of Vietnam was established and during the national liberation struggle of Vietnam and Laos, President Ho Chi Minh always considered the relationship of solidarity between Vietnam and Laos as both an international obligation and a vital interest of each country.
According to Mr. Chien, in the period of 1928-1929, from Thailand, President Ho Chi Minh went to Laos to build a core base to serve the Vietnam-Laos revolutionary movement. He, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Suphanouvong laid the foundation for the special solidarity between Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam.
Before the soul of President Ho Chi Minh, the Counselor emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh's 133rd birthday is an opportunity for the people of the two countries to remember, show gratitude and to live, study and work in accordance with his teachings.
On behalf of the Vietnamese community in Laos, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, President of the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos, emphasized that over the past years, following Uncle Ho's teachings, the Vietnamese community in Laos has always acted as a bridge for Vietnam-Laos relations, organized many activities towards the homeland, preserved the good traditional culture of the nation for future generations.
At the end of the ceremony, the delegates of the two countries visited the exhibition area about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnam – Laos relationship through the ages at President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial site.
On this occasion, the delegations of the two countries also offered incense and flowers at the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Monument in Thakhek town, Khammoune province./.
