Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand making contribution to homeland honoured

Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Pham Quang Hieu met and presented certificates of merit and gifts to overseas Vietnamese associations and some overseas Vietnamese making contribution to the fatherland in Nakhon Phanom and Udon Thani provinces of Thailand.

The activities were carried out on the occasion of his recent visit to the northeastern provinces of Thailand.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu said that the overseas Vietnamese community in Thailand is rich in revolutionary traditions, solidarity and always looking towards the homeland. The Party and State always pay special attention to our compatriots abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Thailand; always consider overseas Vietnamese as an integral part and an important resource of the community of Vietnamese people.

He thanked the valuable contributions of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand not only to Vietnam when the country called for them, but also to Thailand - their second homeland. The Deputy Minister suggested that people continue to promote the spirit of mutual love and affection and support each other.

The Deputy Minister called on overseas Vietnamese to further strengthen cohesion in the community, raise the status of overseas Vietnamese in the host country, and encourage overseas Vietnamese children to learn Vietnamese language and preserve the national cultural identity, towards the origin.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu presented a certificate of merit of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to the All-Thai Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Association, certificates of merit of the Chairman of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese to the All-Thai Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Association, the Overseas Vietnamese Association of UdonThani province, the Thai-Vietnamese Association of Nakhon Phanom province.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,the Deputy Minister also presented gratitude gifts to the elder overseas Vietnamese and overseas Vietnamese who have contributed to the homeland.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu and the delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered incense and planted trees at the memorial sites of President Ho Chi Minh in Nakhon Phanom province, Uncle Ho's relic site in Nong On village, Udon Thani province./.
