The conference aimed to deploy the contents of foreign relations, economic diplomacy, work on overseas Vietnamese and border and territorial work in the southern provinces of Laos.

The event had the participation of more than 40 typical businesses, representing strong business fields in the southern provinces of Laos such as rubber plantation and exploitation, coffee plantation and production, telecommunications, tourism-hotels, finance-banking, hydropower and mining.

At the conference, Consul General of Vietnam in Pakse Nguyen Van Trung briefed the results of the 31st National Foreign Affairs Conference and the 31st National Diplomatic Conference, emphasizing the direction and tasks in the coming time, including: consolidating special solidarity relations; promoting comprehensive, substantive and effective cooperation with Laos; well organizing activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vietnam – Laos diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 19, 1977 – July 19, 2022); and implementing the bilateral cooperation agreement between Vietnam - Laos in the period of 2021-2030.

Mentioning economic diplomacy with the goal of "building economic diplomacy to serve development with the centre of people, localities and businesses", Consul General Nguyen Van Trung specifically stated contents of coordinating activities, supporting enterprises in production, business, investment, capacity improving, warning of arising complications, and strengthening to build friendly relationship with local authorities.

For community work, the Consulate General would implement comprehensive measures to take care of and support overseas Vietnamese to have a solid legal position, stabilize their lives, develop the economy, comply with the local law and integrate into the host society.

In terms of border and territory work, the Consulate General will coordinate with Lao authorities to manage the border, and create an environment of peace, friendship and cooperation for the development.

At the conference, delegates spoke about the production and business in the area, advantages and disadvantages in business cooperation activities, and developing relations with local authorities. At the same time, they thanked the Consulate General for the interest and support over the past time.

The delegates expressed their determination to work more closely with the Consulate General to jointly implement economic diplomacy and community work, thereby promoting business activities in depth, effectively and successfully contributing to strengthening the special traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

In addition, the conference also agreed to establish the Vietnam Business Association in Southern Laos, which will not only play the role of gathering and supporting Vietnamese businesses in the Southern Laos, but also an unofficial channel to exchange and cooperate with the Lao government on issues related to cooperation and investment activities with domestic and foreign enterprises./.
