The meeting and working session aim to implement the project "Mobilizing overseas Vietnamese to participate in introducing, consuming products and developing distribution channels of Vietnamese goods abroad in the 2020-2024 period”.

At the working session at IHK Frankfurt headquarters, Dr. Jürgen Ratzinger, International Business Managing Director, and Mr. Johannes Richter, Sales Director in charge of India and Asia-Pacific region, of IHK Frankfurt, highly appreciated Vietnam's role and position in Asia.

Dr. Ratzinger said that the governments of Hessen state and Frankfurt city have a close relationship with Vietnam, which is shown through the visit of the Mayor of Frankfurt to Ho Chi Minh City in November 2021.

He said that in recent years, Vietnam has become an attractive business destination for German companies. He also provided the delegation with information about agricultural and food markets of Germany in general and Hessen state in particular, and gave some advice to Vietnamese businesses to export their agricultural products and food into the German market.

The Doctor affirmed that IHK Frankfurt is ready to support Vietnamese businesses in seeking partners if they have demand to expand their investment in Germany.

At the meeting with representatives of overseas Vietnamese and German businesses at the headquarters of the Consulate General, Mr. Pham Huu Duc, CEO of AgriFood Group, said that Vietnamese businesses know that Germany is the largest market in Europe, in which Frankfurt is the focal point. He suggested that overseas Vietnamese enterprises in Germany support domestic enterprises in exporting Vietnamese goods to the German and European markets.

Mr. Le Thanh Nam, Director of Kim Phi Asia Food Co., Ltd. and Representative of overseas Vietnamese businesses in Germany, said that Vietnamese businesses should approach the German market in two ways. The first is to approach and take goods directly into large supermarket chains in Germany such as Edeka, Rewe or Lidl. The second one is through distribution channels for German supermarkets and Asian stores.

In Germany, a large distribution channel is Kreyenhop & Kluge GmbH. Mr. Nam also said that overseas Vietnamese businesses in Germany will support and connect domestic businesses with focal businesses importing agricultural products in Germany.

Speaking at the meeting, Consul General Le Quang Long suggested that AgriFood should consider establishing a representative office in Frankfurt to better understand the market and look for partners in Germany, at the same time affirming that the Consulate General is always ready to assist and will continue to seek information on areas the business delegation is interested in.

Previously, the Vietnamese business delegation joined MacFrut 2022 in Rimini Expo, Italy on May 2-7./.
