Speaking at the reception ceremony for the book, Deputy Chairman of the SCOV Ngo Huong Nam said that, with more than 5.3 million Vietnamese people living, studying or working in over 130 countries and territories, the demand for teaching and learning Vietnamese in the overseas Vietnamese community is huge, especially for the second and third generations born and raised abroad.

Over the past years, the SCOV and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented many activities to support overseas Vietnamese in preserving cultural identity, teaching and learning Vietnamese language, such as: coordinating with related ministries and sectors to send Vietnamese teachers abroad, supporting textbooks, teaching materials, and organizing annual training courses for overseas Vietnamese teachers.

The book “I Learn Vietnamese” is compiled by the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese for teaching online, in order to meet overseas Vietnamese demand to learn Vietnamese language, especially children, in the new situation while fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

He highly appreciated the action of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese for actively coordinating with the SCOV, as well as wished that the association would continue to accompany and coordinate with the commission to help Vietnamese teaching and learning be more effective and achieve better results.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Binh, Chairman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, affirmed to support, preserve and promote the traditional cultural identity of the Vietnamese nation, especially Vietnamese language preservation, is a priority task of the association.

According to him, the book “I learn Vietnamese” is compiled in English – Vietnamese bilingual format. In the coming time, it will be compiled in bilingual editions with 11 languages to serve localities where large numbers of Vietnamese people are living.

Through the SCOV, the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese desires that the books will be transferred to teachers teaching Vietnamese language abroad, overseas Vietnamese parents and students. In addition, he is looking for feedback on the book./.
