Vietnamese Ambassador presents credentials to UN Secretary General

Vietnamese Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, presented her credentials to UN Secretary General António Guterres on February 10th.

After the credentials presentation, Director General of the UN Office in Geveva Tatiana Valovaya received the ambassador.

Director General Valovaya congratulated the ambassador on her new assignment at the UN, appreciated the role and cooperation of Vietnam with the UN in various fields, and expressed her hope that during the Ambassador's term, Vietnam would continue to make numerous contributions to UN forums and activities in Geneva, promoting the relations between the UN forums and ASEAN as ASEAN Chair in 2020, for the goals of peace, security and sustainable development and common prosperity for all nations.

Ambassador and Head of Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva Le Thi Tuyet Mai thanked the Director General Valovaya for the good comments on Vietnam’s contribution, and shared her honor on starting her working term at a particularly meaningful time when Vietnam has undertaken a dual responsibility of being a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term and the ASEAN chair in 2020.

She affirmed that relations with the UN are always a priority in Vietnam's foreign policy and Vietnam always strives to become an active and responsible member, making practical and effective contributions to UN activities and other international organizations, promoting cooperation between the UN and ASEAN.

The ambassador expressed her wish to continue to receive the support and cooperation of the Director General, as well as of the UN Office in Geneva, for the ambassador and Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva during her term of office./.
