Vietnamese culture, specialties and cuisine promoted at UN International Fair in Geneva

The Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland on November 22 participated in the UN Bazaar 2022 organized by the UN Women's Guild-Geneva (UNWG-Geneva) to raise fund to support disadvantaged children around the world, including Vietnamese children.

At this year's UN Bazaar, the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva introduced to international friends unique handicraft products, Vietnamese agricultural specialties and dishes imbued with the identity of Vietnamese culinary culture.

Vietnam’s food stall attracted the special attention of visitors. Many of them are patrons who always look to the Vietnamese stall to enjoy the spring rolls, a delicious specialty of Hanoi, made by Vietnamese women from the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva.

The stall introduced Vietnam’s typical products, especially handicraft products, conical hats, silk and agricultural specialties such as coffee and green tea, bringing excitement for visitors.

In an interview with reporters, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai said that the UN Bazaar is held annually. Besides promoting Vietnamese products and dishes, the Vietnamese delegation's goal is to promote the country and people of Vietnam as well as contribute to UNWG's charitable activities.

A highlight of Vietnam's booth at this year's UN Bazaar is the display of 15 paintings by expert Pham Nam Kim, former Director of the bank in Vaud State, Switzerland.

With his heart and enthusiasm always towards the homeland, expert Pham Nam Kim, after retiring in Switzerland, recalled and painted many pictures of Vietnamese landscapes, villages and people, including paintings that have been exhibited in Vietnam and introduced in Switzerland through activities of the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva and the Vietnamese Embassy in Bern.

In spite of not being a professional artist, the paintings of expert Pham Nam Kim are shown in a variety of materials, some 3D paintings have brought a colorful art space, recreating unique perspectives about people, moments of daily life, famous landscapes in Hanoi such as Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature and O Quan Truong, make international friends surprised and admire.

This year's UN Bazaar has attracted thousands of visitors to the booths of many countries to discover souvenirs and enjoy culinary arts, taste traditional dishes from all over the world.

Over the past years, UNWG has always accompanied and supported both materially and spiritually disadvantaged children, delivered disaster and pandemic relief, and provided scholarship programs for children in developing countries, with the desire to bring laughter to disadvantaged children around the world./.
