Vietnamese entrepreneurs in RoK connect Korean businesses with Soc Trang

The Vietnam-Korea Businessmen and Investment Association (VKBIA) desires to be a bridge to introduce and connect businesses in localities of the Republic of Korea (RoK) with Soc Trang province, coordinating to bring workers in Soc Trang province to RoK to work.

Mr. Lam Hoang Nghiep, Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of the province’s departments and agencies on October 18 had a working session with the VKBIA delegation led by Mr. Tran Hai Linh, Member of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Chairman of VKBIA.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Lam Hoang Nghiep said that Soc Trang province is focusing on calling for investment in the fields of infrastructure of industrial zones and clusters, hi-tech agriculture, tourism and logistics. The province plans to develop Tran De Port with an area of over 4,550 hectares and to serve Tran De Port, Soc Trang is invested by the government to build Dai Ngai Bridge, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway. In addition, the province also focuses on planning traffic infrastructure to connect to the expressway, creating a driving force for the province to make breakthroughs and develop in the future.

The investment in the construction of a deep-water seaport at Tran De will have positive and attractive impacts on the development of logistics systems in provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. Initial estimates of the total investment cost to build Tran De seaport by 2030 are about 55,700 billion VND, and in the period after 2030 about 146,300 billion VND from socialization capital.

Vice Chairman of the Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee said that the province currently has a number of Korean businesses that have been investing and developing effectively in the province, contributing to creating jobs and stable incomes for local people. He hoped that through VKBIA, the cooperation relationship between Soc Trang province and RoK will further develop.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Tran Hai Linh thanked the Provincial People's Committee for receiving and working with the VKBIA, and said that over the past time, the cooperation between RoK and the Mekong Delta, including Soc Trang province, still has certain limitations. Therefore, many Korean businesses wish to cooperate with the province to invest in infrastructure development, especially Tran De Port, LNG, hi-tech agricultural park and hospital, contributing to local development. At the working session, the VKBIA wishes to be a bridge to introduce and connect businesses in localities of RoK with Soc Trang; coordinating in sending laborers from Soc Trang province to RoK to work; supporting investment promotion connection between RoK and Soc Trang province; training and developing local human resources in the spirit of cooperation and mutual development.

At the meeting, members of the VKBIA delegation and the Provincial People's Committee exchanged some more information and agreed to learn more about the project of Tran De deep-water seaport, high-tech agriculture. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Department of Planning and Investment to act as the focal point to support and create all conditions for investors to learn and conduct practical research on interested projects in the province./.
