​Vietnamese in Singapore celebrates Lunar New Year Festival

The Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore on January 4 held a ceremony to celebrate Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) with the participation of its staff and representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung informed participants on Vietnam’s achievements since its reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic in March last year. In 2022, the country grew 8.02%, among the fastest growing economies in the world, and collected 700 billion USD from import-export turnover.

He highlighted the thriving Vietnam-Singapore relations in the fields of politics, economy, defence-security, and people-to-people exchange. The Ambassador also added that the two countries mark the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties and a decade of their strategic partnership in 2023 with a series of activities.

Ambassador Dung highly appreciated the practical and meaningful contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the homeland, he wished them to make greater contributions in the coming time.

At the celebration, the participants enjoyed musical performances and traditional Vietnamese dishes for Tet./.
