This is the second direct flight between Vietnam and the US conducted by Vietnam Airlines in 2021, bringing 277 Vietnamese citizens stuck in the US back home.

For the first time in history, a flight operated by a Vietnamese airline was licensed to transport goods between the two countries.

The special shipment includes 250 ventilators, 5 breathing machines, 9,000 COVID-19 quick test kits, 600 medical protective suits, 2,500 face shields and 60,000 medical masks. The shipment is donated by the Vietnamese community in the US to join hands with people in Vietnam to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the urgency of the shipment, with a lot of efforts from many sides, within just 3 days, including two weekend days, all the special shipment was approved by the US side to be shipped home.

As planned, the flight will land at Noi Bai Airport early on August 25.

The entire shipment will be immediately received by the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Health to urgently put it into use for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control./.
