Vietnamese origin woman awarded RoK’s Daesang Award

The Seoul city authority of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has selected Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam Tinh to present the prestigious Daesang Award in recognition of her dedication to charity activities in 2022.

Ms. Tam Tinh, 45 years old, came to RoK as a university student. She started the volunteer work with the desire to repay the love and help she had received.

During the past 19 years, Ms. Tam Tinh has continuously performed many volunteer activities for foreigners residing in RoK, such as translating Vietnamese language for Vietnamese workers, supporting free surgery for children suffering from heart disease in Vietnam or participating in teaching Korean language, supporting patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She shared that she will continue to participate in more volunteer activities in the coming years.

This is the first time that a foreigner naturalized in RoK has received this award. In addition to the top Daesang Award, the awards ceremony this year will include the categories of Excellence awards for individuals and groups.

Mr. Jeong Sang-hoon from the Seoul city authority, said that the election of individuals and organizations was carried out very seriously and announced publicly./.
