Vietnamese people in Thailand support homeland to prevent COVID-19 pandemic

The State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently received donations from the Vietnamese community in Thailand to support Vietnam’s localities heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the ceremony, Mr. Bang Lam, Vice Chairman of the Liasion Association with Overseas Vietnamese in Hanoi, and Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang, member of the Liaison Association with Overseas Vietnamese, on behalf of the Vietnamese community in Thailand, handed over a total amount of 1,479,950 THB to people in localities heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the SCOV Ngo Huong Nam acknowledged and appreciated the noble gesture of the overseas Vietnamese, considering it a testament to the good tradition of Vietnamese people, and it clearly shows the spirit of great national unity - the source of Vietnam's strength.

Mr. Nam said that the commission will allocate the donations from the overseas Vietnamese for the right purposes and to the right subjects as soon as possible.

In particular, in the complicated COVID-19 pandemic development situation in Thailand, the community's heart towards the homeland is even more appreciated.

In the context of an unpredictable pandemic, which causes many harmful consequences to many localities in the country, the commission wishes and hopes to continue receiving the attention and sharing of overseas Vietnamese around the world to help the country soon overcome and successfully control the COVID-19 pandemic./.
