A delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine led by Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach on June 25 had a working session with the Vietnamese community in Odessa.

Difficulties in Vietnamese teaching and learning in foreign countries

At the meeting, on behalf of the Executive Board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Odessa, President Nguyen Nhu Manh briefed the delegation on the association's organizational structure, the general situation of the community, and foreign activities in the locality over the past time.

In terms of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control in the community, Mr. Manh is pleased to announce that there are currently no more infection cases in the community, and many overseas Vietnamese have been vaccinated.

The biggest difficulty is the business problem of overseas Vietnamese in the market. Some people have converted to other forms of business.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duc, Vice President of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Odessa, said that executive boards of fellow-countryman associations do their work well. Overseas Vietnamese have confidence in the leaders of associations.

Ambassador Nguyen Hong Thach acknowledged the association’s positive contributions to foreign affairs, pandemic prevention and control, charity and protecting overseas Vietnamese interests in the region.

The association should mobilize and encourage overseas Vietnamese to expand their business models or convert into other sustainable and stable business models, he said.

The Ambassador especially emphasized teaching Vietnamese to the second and third generation of overseas Vietnamese, considering this a priority in the association's activities, gradually restoring Vietnamese classes in residential clusters. If the pandemic situation is not under control, classes can be organized online.

The Office of the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Odessa will be the new bridge and permanent agency of the Embassy. Along with the activities of the association, it will contribute greatly to supporting overseas Vietnamese in doing business, protecting legal rights and improving the status of Vietnamese people there./.
