At the working session, Mr. Tran Tien Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Lai Chau provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that Lai Chau has lured a total of VND2.199 trillion of ODA capital. The province has had no Korean businesses investing in the locality. The northern province desires VKBIA's support in connecting Lai Chau with ODA projects and investors in fields of upgrading health facilities at communal, district and provincial levels in order to improve examination and treatment quality for people, and consultation to how to organize trade promotion and investment activities with Korean businesses, international agricultural exhibition and support training high-quality human resources and information technological application.
The Chairman also briefed the event on the COVID-19 prevention and control situation in the province over the past time and hoped that VKBIA will continue to accompany the province in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the meeting, Tran Hai Linh, a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and VKBIA Chairman, highly appreciated the potential, strength, socio-economic achievement of Lai Chau and efforts made by the province in prevention and control of COVID-19 over the past time.
VKBIA proposed to cooperate with the provincial People’s Committee to attract investment capital from RoK in the fields the province has potential and strength, such as ecotourism and green tourism development to promote economic growth.
The two sides also exchange plans on ODA capital attraction and preferential loan support for projects on upgrading and building infrastructure such as school, health centre and transport works and creating conditions for people to promote production to improve their living standard.
The VKBIA is ready to support the province to organize the investment promotion conference to invite leading RoK investors and businesses to attend to seek opportunity to invest in Lai Chau. In addition the Association also suggested supporting the province to organize investment promotion conferences in RoK to introduce projects and opportunities and promote Lai Chau tourism to RoK investors.
On this occasion, the VKBIA presented 5,000 face masks, 300 anti-bacterial cloth face masks, 800 bottles of hand-washing gel and other essential materials to serve COVID-19 prevention and control to the provincial People’s Committee and the High Command of the Lai Chau border guard.
Besides, it desires to continue to research and promote investment in the province’s potential and strong fields, such as aviation, trade-tourism service, health service, hi-tech parks, support industrial zones and hi-tech agriculture./.
