Quang Ninh provides medical equipment aid to Chinese city

Mong Cai city in Vietnam’s northern province of Quang Ninh on February 12th presented medical equipment to China’s bordering Dongxing city to aid the Chinese city in fighting the acute respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

The information was announced by the Mong Cai city People’s Committee, which also said that the medical equipment included 30,000 masks, 5,000 pairs of gloves and 500 kilograms of disinfectants. 

The aid shows the close friendship and solidarity between the two localities’ Party Committees, authorities and people. “Mong Cai will always stand side by side with Dongxing in fighting the disease,” said a representative from the Vietnamese city People’s Committee. 

Receiving the aid, Dongxing city’s leaders expressed their thanks to the Vietnamese Party and Government, and Quang Ninh province, for their affection, adding that they believed China will promptly win the fight against the disease and continue to maintain trade, import-export and socio-economic activities with Vietnam. 

On February 9th, Vietnam presented medical equipment worth USD500,000 to China, while the Vietnam Red Cross Society has also donated medical supplies worth USD100,000 to China.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of 10:30 on February 12th, a total of 45,170 cases of Covid-19 infection were reported in 28 countries and territories worldwide, of which 44,653 were in China.  

The death toll reached 1,115, with 1,113 in mainland China, one in the Philippines and another in Hong Kong (China).

In Vietnam, the 15 cases have been confirmed, with six having recovered and no deaths having been reported./.
