COVID-19: Total stands at 1,038 with zero fresh infections

The Health Ministry on August 29 morning confirmed zero new cases of the novel coronavirus infections over the past 12 hours, keeping the national tally at 1,038 and the death toll at 30 since the resurgence of the disease last month.

Among the tally of infections, locally-transmitted cases number 689, 349 are imported cases which were put in quarantine right after entry.

Indeed, the number of infections linked to Da Nang, the country’s largest COVID-19 outbreak spot, has climbed to 549 since July 25.

One day earlier, an additional 26 people diagnosed with the novel coronavirus were released from hospital after making a full recovery, lifting the country’s tally of recoveries to 663.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, among the active cases in treatment, a total of 124 have tested negative to SARS-CoV-2 that causes the disease at least once or several times.

With the latest update, the country's coronavirus tally stands at 1,038, with 30 having died of various chronic conditions and COVID-19 related complications.

Statistically, a total of 61,100 people coming into close contact and returning from epidemic-hit areas are being kept in quarantine for health monitoring, of whom more than 1,363 are being put in concentrated isolation at hospitals. The remaining cases are undergoing self-isolation at home or at places of residence.

Meanwhile the south central province of Ninh Thuan has just presented certificates of medical isolation completion to 232 Vietnamese citizens returning from Malaysia.

According to the Steering Committee for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and Control in Ninh Thuan province, during the quarantine period, the 232 citizens were sampled for testing thrice by the Provincial Center for Disease Control and all had negative results for the SARS-CoV-2 virus./.
