The cooperation is expected to contribute to expanding and enhancing cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark in sharing information, and improving the capacity of experts and employees, especially in the offshore wind power supply chain, said Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Højlund Christensen at the online signing ceremony.

According to a memorandum of understanding with the Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee in July 2020, once completed and put into operation at full capacity, the project is expected to provide energy to more than 7 million Vietnamese households each year and help reduce CO2 emissions by 130 million tons during the course of the project.

The La Gan wind power project, with an estimated capacity of nearly 3.5 GW, is being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Asiapetro and Novasia.

According to BVG Associates, a renewable energy strategic consulting firm, the project will create over 45,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs and contribute over 4.4 billion USD to the economy during the course of the project.

The rate of locally-made components will reach about 45% of the supply chain of the project./.
