Addressing the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of the Hanoi Medical University Hospital, said that the hospital had been built using the medical staff’s experience in COVID-19 prevention in central and southern localities earlier, with consultancy from Vietnamese, Japanese and European experts.

The 19 blocks and 500 sick-beds of the hospital make it the largest and most modern COVID-19 treatment hospital in Hanoi so far.

The hospital functions as the highest line in the treatment ladder for COVID-19 patients in the capital and the northern provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and Lang Son. It will also be the National Center for COVID-19 Intensive Resuscitation, in charge of organizing the collection, emergency, and treatment of severe and critical COVID-19 patients.

Completed within 30 days, the hospital aroused the participation of over 1,000 workers, engineers and architects, with financial support from diverse sponsors, including VND100 billion from Sun Group, in expenses for completion of the hospital, and part of capital for the air-conditioner, gas, machine and medical equipment systems./.
