Scientific works of Ho Chi Minh Award winners honoured for the first time

14 works by Vietnamese scientists who were presented with Ho Chi Minh Awards for their significant contributions to the country and humanity are on display at an exhibition in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh.

The event is being held at the Heritage Center and Park for scientists and scholars of Vietnam under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).

It helps visitors to study more about about the scientists’ contributions as well as the ideals that drove them to work and succeed in the country’s difficult conditions, through 164 documents and items.

In the field of medical sciences, Dr Dang Van Ngu was noted for devising a method of manufacturing antibiotics such as penicillin and streptomycin, helping to cure tens of thousands of wounded soldiers.

Dr Ton That Tung was renowned around the world for his new technique for operating on the liver, while Professor Hoang Tuy was recognised for his pioneering research in the field of global optimisation.

Other notable works on display include research on Vietnamese people’s anatomy, plants and animals in Vietnam, nonlinear oscillations, and river damming./.
