A project to provide free summer lessons for students in Ly Son island district was launched at Ly Son high school in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 15th.

The project is organised by ICE Vietnam, a non-profit organisation established in 2014, as part of the Yale Young Global Scholars program.

Fifteen volunteers were selected from a total of 500 applicants from prestigious domestic and international universities. They will teach about 130 high school students in the district to expand their knowledge and help them prepare for high school exams.

The students will also participate in a project on environmental protection and receive more than 400 books.

Three scholarships worth VND10 million (USD441) each and two scholarships worth VND5 million (USD220) each will be presented to outstanding students at the end of the project.

Vo Minh Phuong, Vice Principal of the Ly Son high school, expressed his hope that the project will improve the students’ knowledge and social skills, along with helping them choose appropriate universities or colleges./.
