After there was a new case of COVID-19 in the community in the central city of Da Nang, the Authority of Telecommunications under the Ministry of Information and Communications sent a document to telecom businesses to request them to send text messages asking people in Da Nang to install Bluezone application.
This is an application that uses Bluetooth technology to track contacts, and can alert users who have been near people positive for COVID-19. However, for the best tracing application, the number of users will have to reach about 30 million people.
To be evaluated as a highly innovative technology product, Bluezone application uses Bluetooth technology to early detect suspected cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus. A study by the Authority of Information Technology Application under the Ministry of Information and Communications shows that if the number of application installations accounts for 60% of the adult population, the results of contact traceability will be almost exactly accurate.
Bluezone installed on a smartphone can communicate with each other at a distance of 2m, recording close contact. If F0 appears from the data of a health agency in the system, the information will be sent to all smartphones of users in the Bluezone community. Health authorities will then have F1 data and continue to input it in the system, then from F1, the system will find out F2, F3 very quickly and accurately.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tu Quang, Chairman of BKAV Corporation, during daily activities, people will come into contact with each other and the device will "talk" to each other. If it detects that the user's smartphone has been in contact with a F0 user, the system will notify the users that they are at risk of F1.
The Authority of Information Technology Application said that as of the afternoon of July 27th, the number of downloads of the Bluezone application reached only about 255,000.
Therefore, if one person uses a smartphone and installs the Bluezone application for himself and three family members, it is estimated that after 15 days it can reach 30 million users./.
