Through the Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund (CHAF), the Government of Canada will provide 555,300 CAD (426,000 USD) to CARE Canada and Oxfam-Québec to help about 32,000 people in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri overcome the consequences of floods, according to correspondents of Vietnam News Agency in Ottawa.

CARE Canada and Oxfam-Québec are members of the Humanitarian Alliance, currently present in 154 countries around the world.

When a disaster occurs in a locality, members of the Alliance can devise quick and appropriate responses and solutions.

Canada has been a development partner of Vietnam for the past 25 years.

Since 1990, Canada has provided more than CAD1.5 billion in development assistance through a variety of channels to support Vietnam's efforts in poverty reduction and development, in accordance with Vietnam’s strategic priorities./.
