Hanoi places highest priority on COVID-19 prevention

According to Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien, in 2020, the city has well controlled the COVID-19 pandemic, with 173 cases reported and no fatalities.

During a meeting with Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long on the capital city's medical work on December 10, Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh said that the city placed the highest priority on COVID-19 prevention and control, giving authority for localities to increase inspection in isolated areas and crowded areas.

Director of the city Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien said that as of December 10, Hanoi has gone 116 straight days with no COVID-19 cases in the community. Additionally, other diseases such as dengue fever; hand, foot and mouth disease and encephalitis were under control.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan said that over the past time, the city Party Committee, the city People's Council and the city People's Committee had always been interested in directing and prioritizing the allocation of funds for investment in facilities, equipment and human resources to well protect and take care of the people's health. In particular, its prevention of COVID-19 was appreciated by the Ministry of Health. 

The Ministry of Health suggested Hanoi continue to strictly carry out COVID-19 preventive measures, and increase prevention of other diseases, especially during the solar and lunar New Year festivals as well as spring festivals./.
