Fruits are becoming key products which bring high economic value for Hanoi, the city Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has assessed.

According to the department, there are currently over 21,880 hectares of fruits, with productivity of 300,886 tons in 2020, an increase of 39% and 35% compared to 2015, respectively. 

The city has focused on developing the area of 4 key fruits: banana, orange, grapefruit and longan, which account for 62% of the total fruit areas. Farmers have been instructed on how to apply advanced science and technology into production for exported products.

The city Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is supporting localities developing a link with enterprises for consuming fruit products; improving over 10,000 hectares of fruits, including over 1,000 hectares applying high technologies; and building 12 fruit brands. As result, the value in fruit production has reached VND400 million to VND1 billion per hectare./.
