Ho Chi Minh City disburses more than VND900 billion for people in difficult circumstances

Through 2 phases of support since the fourth wave of COVID-19 began, Ho Chi Minh City has disbursed more than VND900 billion for COVID-19 affected people, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, has said.

According to Mr. Duc, Ho Chi Minh City's goal is not to let anyone go hungry, and units, departments and local authorities are supporting people as quickly as possible.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City has also supported business households with an amount of VND12 billion, and traders at traditional markets of VND26 billion; reduced the payment of occupational social insurance for more than 2.3 million employees with more than VND1,06 trillion; supported pausing payments for retirement and death insurance of about VND187 billion; supported officials, workers and tour guides with about VND147 billion; and supported 143,000 poor households and near-poor households with VND 47.5 billion.

Statistics from the City Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs show that there are currently more than 2.5 million people facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, mainly poor workers, self-employed workers, and people from outside the province who are living in difficulty due to the prolonged period of social distancing./.
