Ho Chi Minh City’s 21 districts and Thu Duc City all met the pandemic control criteria according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, and proposed to announce that they could control COVID-19.

The information was presented by Mr. Pham Duc Hai, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, at a press conference on October 11, 10 days after the city's implementation of Directive 18 to continue the fight against COVID-19 and step by step resume socio-economic development.
Decision 3979 of the Ministry of Health stipulates that an area can control the pandemic when the number of new cases in the community weekly decreases continuously compared to the previous 2 weeks, and decreases by at least 50% compared to the previous 2 weeks with the highest number of infections; the positive rate through RT-PCR testing during the day in the community decreased continuously for 14 days; and no new infections are reported in 7 days.
According to Mr. Hai, most people quickly adapt safely and flexibly to the "new normal" conditions. More and more businesses, production and business establishments, and traditional markets are operating again to serve people's needs and create more jobs. Welfare continues to be deployed to the people. Security and order are maintained and guaranteed.
Statistics from the City's Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control showed that the city is treating 15,198 patients, including 1,141 children under 16 years old, 533 severe patients on ventilators, and 15 patients using ECMO intervention.
As of October 10, more than 7 million people had been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, and more than 5.2 million people had received both doses./.
