Ho Chi Minh City spends VND7.3 trillion to support people in difficulty because of COVID-19

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to spend about VND7.3 trillion to support more than 7.3 million people. This is the city's 3rd round of support, which will be carried out on September 24 at the latest, according to Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, during a press conference on September 20.

The city directs localities to spend the support properly, making a list that does not omit anyone in difficult circumstances, regardless of temporary or permanent residence.

Regarding the beneficiaries of the third support package, Mr. Hoan said that they include members of poor and near-poor households, and people who are eligible for monthly social allowances who are facing difficulties.

Workers with really difficult circumstances due to job loss, or no income during the long social distancing period of the city, are present in the city's wards and towns or are being treated at hospitals and isolation facilities, those who are not present in the locality but are receiving medical treatment, are also entitled to the policy.

The support will also cover dependents of the above labor groups including parents, spouses and children, those staying at home without work, being present in wards and towns in Ho Chi Minh City or being treated or isolated; people temporarily staying in hostels, poor hamlets during the time of social distancing present in wards and towns.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Vo Van Hoan, more than 7.3 million people will receive support with a support level of VND1 million each./.
