(CPV) - On March 23, the 17th session of the 16th Hai Duong People’s Council convened in a cultural center in Hai Duong city.

Mr. Pham Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Hai Duong Party Committee, was elected as Chairman of the provincial People’s Council for the 20160-2021 term.

At the session, the Hai Duong People’s Council elected Chairman of the provincial People’s Council for the 2016-2021 term. Earlier, the People’s Council released Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien as Chairman of the provincial People’s Council for retirement.
According to the results, Mr. Pham Xuan Thang, PCC member and Secretary of the Hai Duong Party Committee, received 100% of votes of delegates of the provincial People’s Council to be Chairman of the 16th People’s Council in the 2016-2021 term.
Earlier, in October 2020, Mr. Pham Xuan Thang was elected Secretary of the 17th Hai Duong Party Committee.
Mr. Pham Xuan Thang, 54 years old, was born in Tu Ky district, Hai Duong province. He is a master of science and technology management and was trained through senior political theory. He is an official matured through Union work.
From November 2001 to January 2007, Mr. Thang was Secretary of the Hai Duong provincial Communist Youth Union. He has held the positions of Secretary of the Binh Giang district Party Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong, Head of the Hai Duong Party Committee’s Commission of Popularization and Education, and Head of the Hai Duong Party Committee’s Commission of Organization. In November 2019, he was elected as Deputy Secretary of the 16th Hai Duong Party Committee./.
