National COVID-19 tally rises by 47

Vietnam recorded 46 locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases and one imported case over the past 12 hours to 6am on June 21 morning, mostly in Ho Chi Minh City, according to the Ministry of Health.

Thirty-three cases were reported in the southern metropolis, while five were found in Bac Giang, four in Bac Ninh, two in Tien Giang and one each in Nghe An and Tra Vinh.

The latest infections brought the national count to 13,258, including 11,559 domestic cases.

The country has registered 9,989 cases since the new wave of COVID-19 broke out on April 27, of whom 2,445 have been given the all-clear.

Twenty cities and provinces that were hit by the pandemic have gone through 14 days without new cases.

More than 5.5 million people have taken COVID-19 tests since April 29.

According to the ministry's Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, as of June 21 morning, the number of recoveries was 5,229, while the death toll stood at 66.

Among the patients still under treatment, 381 have tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 135 twice, and 137 thrice.

As many as 172,746 people are under medical monitoring nationwide.

On June 20, 60,955 people got COVID-19 vaccine shots. More than 2.4 million doses have been administered so far, with 121,683 receiving full two shots. /.
