Nearly VND21.89 trillion spent supporting people in need due to COVID-19

So far, nearly VND21.89 trillion has been spent supporting 24.26 million people facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with Resolution 68 of the Government, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has reported.

According to MOLISA, Binh Duong, Hanoi, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau received large amounts of assistance.

For the implementation of Resolution 116 and Decision 28 on providing monetary support to employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic from the balance of the Unemployment Insurance Fund, a report of the MOLISA shows that support has been settled for 428,894 employees who are participating in unemployment insurance and 111,212 people have stopped participating in the insurance with a total support amount of VND1.251 trillion; of which, VND999.5 billion has been allocated to 425,117 employees.

In terms of rice allocation, Prime Minister decided to allocate a total of 137,090 tons of rice to support over 2.41 million households with nearly 9.14 million people in 31 provinces and cities who are suffering hunger due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Fund for Vietnamese Children has coordinated with 27 provinces and cities to support VND7.83 billion for 1,541 orphans who lost their parents due to COVID-19 with VND5 million each and 124 infants born as a child of a pregnant woman infected with COVID-19 with VND1 million each.

“The resolutions and policies all show the human spirit and the solidarity to take care of labourers in overcoming the pandemic," MOLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said./.
