Previously, receiving information about more than 1,700 households in Thai Lai and Huynh Cong Tay villages facing difficulties in production because the cultivated land in the area still has many explosives left after the war, NPA/RENEW developed programs and plans to support people. After a process of serious work and effort, NPA/RENEW's clearance teams have cleared explosives on nearly 4 million square meters of land. During the clearance effort, working teams safely destroyed more than 2,700 hazardous explosives. As a result, local people have safe land for production.

According to statistics of NPA/RENEW, in the first 10 months of 2021, in the province, more than 1,300 dangerous explosives were safely destroyed by project teams.

Starting in June 2020, RENEW/NPA launched clearance operations for the first time in Quang Tri province. A total of 6 site clearance teams were dispatched to clear previously identified hazardous areas in Vinh Linh district.

Project RENEW is a cooperation program between the authority of Quang Tri province and foreign non-governmental organizations, established in 2001, with the mission of restoring the environment and overcoming the consequences of war.

The NPA has been active in Vietnam since 2007 and works with central and provincial authorities to carry out capacity building, surveying and clearance projects in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Binh./.
