Over VND103 billion spent caring for workers

Among 418 businesses in the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones, one foreign-invested business pays the highest reward of over VND566 million to each of its labourers, while the highest in a domestic-owned business is VND153 million.

The figure was announced by the city Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority during a press conference on January 21.

Regarding activities to care for workers during the lunar New Year festival (Tet), Chairman of the Zones Trade Union Huynh Van Tuan said that agencies and businesses would spent over VND103 billion to provide material and spiritual care for labourers. Typical are the program to give 5,019 transport tickets worth over VND3.2 billion to labourers returning home for Tet; and the program on giving presents to disadvantaged workers.

Accordingly, the trade union of the zones will present 13,000 gifts, worth VND500,000 each at maximum, to disadvantaged workers.

Meanwhile, the City Confederation of Labour will present gifts worth VND1.5 million each to workers who welcome Tet at the zones. Additionally, 418 businesses will support 132,960 Tet presents worth over VND46.7 billion to labourers./.
