VND29 billion in support of border and island residents

In 2020, classes of people in Ho Chi Minh city have donated VND29 billion to the fund for islands and border areas, the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the city has reported.

According to the organization, the money has been used to care for disadvantaged military soldiers’ children; and build over 800 houses for poor families in Muong Te district in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau, using VND50 billion.

Additionally, VND600 million has been spent on building houses for soldiers and poor people in border areas across the 5 provinces of Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Cao Bang and Ha Giang. 

Together with it, VND2.5 billion has also been used to build a water refinery project for poor border pupils in Ca Mau province.

In 2019, over 10 years after establishment, the fund had collected over VND334 billion./.
