7,000 athletes to attend Da Nang International Marathon 2018

(CPV) - The Da Nang International Marathon (DNIM) 2018 will be attended by 7,000 people from 52 countries and territories, mainly from the Republic of Korea, China, Hong Kong (China) and Japan.

After five years of being organized, DNIM has attracted nearly 30,000 athletes from around the world and earned a reputation in Southeast Asia: ranking among the Top 3 most desirable marathons in the region as voted by Rad Season, listing among the Top 10 marathons to conquer and the best beautiful road runner in every frame voted by Eat Play Surf.

This information was released in a press conference, held by the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports on August 7th.

With the message “Because I love Da Nang”, DNIM 2018 includes five contents: 1 km for under 10 year old children, 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km, in order to promote the image of a vibrant and modern sea city as well as encourage people to maintain a healthy lifestyle through jogging.

Notably, this year’s event saw an increasing number of foreign competitors registering for the 21km distance event.

The marathon will officially open on August 11th at East Sea Park, Phuoc My precinct, Son Tra district, with an array of activities such as getting Race Kit for athletes and fun jogging under 1km for children. The distance of 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km will take place on August 12th.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, said that the international event has contributed to promoting the jogging movement in the central coastal city. So far, the organizers have raised USD10,000 and more than VND37 million to make donations to five units in Da Nang./.
