“Green Vietnam Sea” campaign to be launched in five localities

An environmental protection campaign for tourism, themed “Green Vietnam Sea”, will be launched for the first time on May 18th-26th in five central coastal localities: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Da Nang.

The campaign is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, as part of the International Biodiversity Day on May 22nd and the World Environment Day on June 5th.

It aims to effectively implement documents of the Party, State; enhance state management in environmental protection in general and tourism climate in particular to develop tourism sustainably; and raise the awareness and responsibility of all levels, branches and people, especially tourists at tourist attractions.

The launch ceremony will take place at 06h30 on May 18th at Binh Minh square, Cua Lo town, Nghe An province. After that, there will be a campaign to clean Cua Lo beach, while Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Da Nang will also organize mass activities to respond.

A large number of Vietnam youth union members will join hands to clean up the sea environment and send clean water to areas affected by drought and salt intrusion.

On the sidelines, the campaign will involve activities such as honoring 5 projects which contributed to protecting the sea, presenting 10 scholarships for children who overcame difficulties to achieve excellent results, 170 garbage cans for five localities and football exchanges.

The closing program will be held at 20h00 on May 26th, and will be broadcast live on VTV6 channel./.
