Hanoi provides free Wi-fi at tourist spots

The Hanoi Department of Information and Communications has requested Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to install free public Wi-fi systems at tourist spots, famous landscapes and historical sites in the capital.

The Department asked the Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports, the People’s Committees of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Tay Ho and Ha Dong districts and Son Tay town, and related organs to realize the request.

Locations which are expected to offer free Wi-fi include Hanoi Zoo, Thong Nhat Park, Vietnam Military History Museum and Vietnamese Women’s Museum.

Earlier, on August 18th, the Hanoi People’s Committee has approved a policy of installing free Wi-fi at the locations. The installation aims to develop the city’s tourism in the 2016-2020 period and the following years. It is also part of activities to celebrate the 1010th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi and the 17th Hanoi Party Congress.

From August 2017 to now, the department coordinated with related departments, industries and telecommunications businesses to deploy free Wi-fi internet access in the form of socialization at some locations, such as: Hoan Kiem Lake, Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Huong Pagoda scenic area and the Bat Trang Pottery Village./.
