Over 8 million foreigners visit Vietnam

Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam since the beginning of the year surpassed 8 million, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Specifically, in October, the country received some 812,000 foreign tourists, down 0.1% from the previous month, but up 23.2% compared to the same period last year.

Of this, foreigners arriving by air reached more than 668,000, accounting for 82.3%, while those arriving by sea and road were 10,318 (1.3%) and 133,563 (16.4%), respectively.

Totalling the ten months, about 8,077,000 foreign tourists visited the country, a year-on-year rise of 25.4%, in which foreign arrivals by air were over 6.77 million, up 31.1%.

Almost all markets sending tourists to Vietnam witnessed growth compared to the same period last year, such as Hong Kong-China (72.5%), China (55.2%), the Republic of Korea (40.1%), New Zealand (35%), Thailand (30.8%), Italy (30.3%), Spain (27.3%), Russia (27.1%) and the Netherlands (24.2%).

According the GSO, the country provided services to 53.3 million domestic tourists, grossing a turnover of VND331.5 trillion, a year-on-year rise of 19.1%./.
