2,000 national flags presented to fishermen in Thanh Hoa province

The Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Thanh Hoa provincial People's Committee on July 22nd held a ceremony to launch and parade vehicles to promote a contest on communicating the sovereignty and sustainable development of Vietnam’s sea and islands in the Red River Delta region and neighboring provinces.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Tao, Head of the Grassroots Information Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications, said that the launching ceremony and vehicle parade are one of four contents of the contest.

The contest is a playground for mobile communications teams to exchange experiences and introduce creative and effective communication measures on protection of the sovereignty and sustainable development of Vietnam’s sea and islands in units and localities.

On this occasion, the organizing board in collaboration with Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourer) newspaper organized the program “One million national flags for fishermen” to encourage the spirit of fishermen in coastal localities.

Accordingly, 2,000 national flags were given to Thanh Hoa province and 20 typical fishermen in the province were also awarded national flags.

Mr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-chief of Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, said that the national flag represents the country with nearly 100 million Vietnamese people, so when the national flag flies on the top of the vessel, fishermen feel that they are not alone on the sea but nearly 100 million Vietnamese people are beside them, fishermen will have steady spirit to continue to work on the sea.

The contest has participation of 11 provinces and cities of Thanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Ha Noi, Ha Tinh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh./.
