CPI in Hanoi rises 0.54%

Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) in September 2022 increased by 0.54% from the previous month and rose by 4.47% over the same period last year. The average price index in the first 9 months of the year soared by 3.49% compared to the average of the same period last year.

This month, 8 out of 11 commodity groups had an increase in CPI compared to August. In which, the highest price increase was seen in the education group with 9.65%, contributing to 0.76% to the overall CPI increase.

Prices of other groups of commodities also went up, including beverages and tobacco up 0.13%; recreation and tourism up 0.09%; and other commodities and services up 0.01%-0.06%.

The post and telecommunications group kept the same price as last month.

In contrast, the transportation group dropped sharply by 2.22% compared to the previous month, reducing the overall CPI by 0.22%, because gasoline prices continued to decrease for 3 consecutive periods on September 5, September 12, and September 12, and September 21.

Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials fell by 0.25% as gas prices continued to fall by 1.58% month-on-month.

The gold price index decreased by 2.25% and the US dollar price index increased by 0.28% compared to the previous month./.
