On January 11, Mr. Nguyen The Hung, Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch of the provincial Customs Department, said that import and export activities through the Lao Cai border gate in the first 10 days of 2023 continued to see many positive signals.

Goods imported and exported through the Kim Thanh 2 international road border gate since the beginning of 2023 have been cleared quickly and smoothly.

Total import and export turnover reached 18.8 million USD; in which, import turnover posted 10.9 million USD, export was valued at 7.9 million USD.

The main imported goods include agricultural products, vegetables, fruits of all kinds, confectionery, chemicals, machinery and equipment.

Export products are mainly fresh Vietnamese fruits such as green bananas, watermelons, dragon fruit, peanuts, bamboo and rattan goods, and peeled boards; in which, export value of some fruit products such as green bananas and watermelons increased over the same period of 2022.

Currently, the customs force continues to create favorable conditions and apply information technology in the declaration of import and export goods to support businesses.

In 2022, due to the impact of the epidemic, the customs clearance capacity in Lao Cai was repeatedly interrupted. Import-export turnover of 2022 is estimated at over 2.2 billion USD, half of the set target.

In 2023, Lao Cai sets a target of achieving 5 billion USD of import-export turnover, a two-fold increase compared to 2022./.
