Lam Dong develops over 65,000 hectares of hi-tech agriculture

After more than 18 years of implementing the policy of developing high-tech agriculture, many brands of agricultural products in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong are now present in the world market, contributing to a strong breakthrough in socio-economic development.

Lam Dong now has 65.300 hectares of hi-tech agricultural production, accounting for 21.8% of the arable land, said the provincial People’s Committee.

The area includes 25,830 hectares of vegetables, 3,035 hectares of flowers, 3,559 hectares of tea, 20,404 hectares of coffee, 5,044 hectares of rice, 6,885 hectares of fruit trees, 167 hectares of medicinal plants, 20 hectares of mushrooms and 363 hectares of other crops (nursery, strawberries, and raspberry).

The total area applied with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards is more than 5,880 hectares. The production area under the synchronous and sustainable quality management process (4C, UTZ, Rainforest) is more than 84,000 hectares, the output is over 261,600 tons a year.

Over the past time, the brand “Da Lat - magical crystallization from good soil”, including vegetable products, flowers, Arabica coffee and agricultural tourism, has gradually been spread. The province now has 177 recognized OCOP products.

In 2022, Lam Dong achieved a total export turnover of 886.7 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 27.3%. Some export products enjoyed sharp increases such as coffee bean, up 69.6% in volume and 77% in volume; vegetables and fruits up 26% in volume and 30.7% in value; and fresh flowers up 30.3% in value./.
