The Republic of Korea (RoK) has become the largest market of Vietnam’s tourism industry. In the first 7 months of 2022, 196,200 visitors from the land of kimchi visited Vietnam.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), along with the increase in frequency on routes from Seoul to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, airlines have re-opened many routes connecting the RoK with tourist destinations in Vietnam.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the 7 months, 954,600 international visitors visited Vietnam, down 90.3% from the same period in 2019, before the COVID-19 epidemic.

Among the top 10 markets sending tourists to Vietnam, besides the US, the remaining markets are from Asia and the Pacific.

According to CAAV, along with an increase in frequency on the routes from Seoul to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, airlines have re-opened flights to some tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang.

Before the epidemic, China was always the largest market of Vietnam and the RoK came second place, but now China has not yet allowed people to travel abroad, making the RoK rise to the top of the list.

CAAV reported that the agency, the Tourism Development Support Fund and many tourism businesses and airlines are preparing to carry out many activities to promote destinations abroad with the focus on markets near Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and some distant markets in Europe.

As scheduled, Vietnam will participate in the JATA Tourism Expo in Japan from September 22 to 25, and the World Travel Market in the UK from November 7 to 9. In addition, festivals and programs will be held to introduce and welcome business delegations and press from the RoK, Japan, Taiwan (China) and Europe./.
